Making the Move to the Midwest: Is Moline for Me?

By The Bassford Team on September 3, 2020

Packing up and moving to a new city can sometimes be a daunting and challenging task, especially if you’re an out-of-towner and unfamiliar with the area. Perhaps you’ve had the pleasure of visiting but it was at a limited capacity, like a short-term business trip or maybe you’ve never been to the Midwest. Regardless of your level of familiarity with the QC Area, you’ll need to decide which city will be the most beneficial for you and your family. Today we’re featuring Moline, the larger of the two cities that make up the Illinois-side of the Quad Cities, so that when the time arrives that you’re ready to buy your new home, you can be sure that you’ve made the most informative decision.

Living Life in Moline

Tucked away between the “Mighty Mississippi” and the Rock River and representing the Illinois-side of the Quad Cities is Moline. It is most famously known as the home for the world headquarters of Deere & Company, the agricultural manufacturing giant who produces those iconic green & yellow tractors, mowers, and other related farming machinery. Within the past few years, the city of Moline has completely transformed its beautiful waterfront and downtown area by adding new restaurants, hotels, shops, and other recreational activities. New residential neighborhoods are starting to sprout up and blossom as well, giving potential homebuyers a marvelous selection of brand new Moline homes to choose from. Additional points of interest include:

  • John Deere Classic – held annually, this nationally televised professional golf tournament is the last stop along the PGA Tour before golfers head overseas to the British Open.
  • Quad City International Airport – provides non-stop flights to multiple cities across the U.S. and is the 3rd busiest airport in the state, right behind Chicago-O’Hare and Midway.
  • TaxSlayer Center – a breathtaking 12,000-seat arena which brings in popular singers, bands, comedians, and sporting events from all over the world. It is also home to the Quad City Storm and the Quad City Steamwheelers, a professional minor league hockey team and a professional arena football team, respectively.
